Sargent Green Juniper (Juniperus chinensis 'Green Sargent') is a low-maintenance evergreen shrub that makes excellent groundcover due to its dense habit of growth. Juniperus chinensis, commonly called Chinese juniper, is native to China, Japan, Mongolia, and the Himalayas. This shrub can grow up to 50 feet tall and 20 feet wide in the wild. In more urban areas, it will grow much shorter and shrubbier. Its dark green foliage is complemented by deep brown bark that peels back in stripes.
